Hi!
Well, I've been getting your letters pretty regularly, Mary, and all I can say is that I'm pretty lucky to have a sister who, busy as she is, can find time to write without expecting answers each time.
Since I last wrote to *you I've been elected to post bugler - and beginning Wednesday I'll begin duties as the regimental bugler - highest a boot can get. Soon I'm going to try for ships company which, if I make it, will keep me stationed here for 60 days. But I have been a little skeptical about it for I may make service school - and if the two conflict I may not get either - then of course there's the chance I'll make both.
There's a piano player here who played with Bob Strong (uncle Walter's boy house) and Glen Gray who congratulated me on my Cornet playing and may form a little band. [page break]
He has special arrangements and they're pretty slick.
I see Indiana did all right against Wabash and played a good game last Saturday. Great Lakes defeated Ohio State 13-6 ah, how wonderful.
Have you seen the movie "Phantom of the Opera" with Nelson Eddy? I saw it last Friday. Not only is it full of good music, but there is some horror in it that'll make hair grow on your chest. If you ever have the chance - see it. I don't why but I thought it was terrific.
I got an invitation to Tidi's wedding, but I could go if it was a funeral. To Tommy it probably is. No soap for me though - My leave is the 26th till Nov. 4th. I guess I'll just miss seeing you - but if I'm stationed here for 2 extra months I can run into Chicago each week end - maybe to Goshen and meet you some time.
Well, I've got calls now so for now I'll close.
Lots of love
Bud
P.S. THANX For The Letters.
